Germanium (Ge crystal) windows
Germanium (Ge crystal) is a synthetic material, with melting point 937 C. It`s single crystal, which is growing by Czohralski method. Germanium belongs to the cubic crystal class m3m. Germanium crystals have a very high refractive index. Germanium crystals are very good known as semiconducting material. The first transistor was obtained with Germanium.
Optical Germanium crystals have a transmission in 2 – 22 microns range.
Application: solid state electronics, infrared optics, gamma radiation detectors and other.
