Detection of inhomogeneities in structure and composition of Lithium Niobate

The inhomogeneities in the structure and composition of lithium niobate have been studied by the X-ray microanalysis technique and by the patterns of inhomogeneous optical damage. The relationship between inhomogeneities (that appear under laser illumination) and those in the composition of the crystal was established through comparing data obtained optically and using X-ray microanalysis and topography techniques.
